Here is an extensive RESTORE FUNCTION AND USAGE GUIDELINES PAGE from Founder and CEO of Biomic Sciences, Dr. Zach Bush, designed to address many of the function and usage questions regarding Restore.

“We use Restore as a foundation of health for a broad spectrum of patients. Restore does not treat any disease. Instead, it promotes strong membrane integrity through its direct and indirect effects on the tight junctions of the bowel wall and vascular systems of the body, and restoration of the bowel ecology with the unique bacterial communication attribute of the supplement. Microbiome balance and tight junction integrity are widely recognized to constitute a major portion of the human immune system, and directly affect DNA transcription of human cells to promote optimal health. The well-proven biology of Restore demonstrates its role as a foundational resource in your pursuit for optimal health.”

This question continues to arise in every faction – doctors, scientists, media, even the general public is starting to take an interest. How many species of bacteria exist in a healthy human microbiome? The sheer number of bacteria on the human body is huge – anywhere from 100 trillion to 1.5 quadrillion (the latter is likely more accurate). The challenge of identifying these species is due to a few factors. One is the plasticity of the microbiome, which can change from minute to minute, even swapping DNA from virus to bacteria to human. Another is the fragile and extremely unique microecosystems that are represented on your body surfaces, orifices, and even within the internal organs that we now recognize harbor a microbiome workforce. We cannot reach the sites of the majority of these microecosystems and cannot recreate these diverse microecosystems in petri dishes to preserve and grow the species that would live there.

Every nook and cranny of the human body is filled with microbiome, including the skin, eyes, ears, mouth, nares, tonsils, and colon. We cannot reliably get culture data from any site – including the skin – to define the vast species variants. This is due to the very sensitive ecosystems each species needs to survive long enough to get set up in culture. Less than 1% of species present are thought to survive long enough to grow in culture. As such, we have underestimated the number of species that actually exist in different parts of the human body. When we culture wounds or body spaces in the clinical or research settings, a few will grow, and so we come to assume that these are representative of the microbiome that is present. This is not at all the case.

For example, we cannot get to the living human small bowel for good specimen collection and this is likely the site of extraordinary diversity that goes unseen in colon and stool samples due to its unique anaerobic environments. We discovered, only in the last few years, that the appendix is a repository of a vast ecosystem with different bacteria thriving at each millimeter as you go deeper into the tube-like pouch. Just last year an additional 1600 metagenomes were added to the database which will result in at least that many more species of microbes categorized on top of the 10,000 already known in the human microbiome.

Since we cannot rely on culture data to define the complexity of the vast microbiome we need new technological advances to get us to the quantification and categorization of the human microbiome. Genomics and proteomics are two science fields that are advancing quickly and will play a role in this future accomplishment, with additional data coming from the new world of microRNA and retrovirus detection.

In the meantime, when you hear someone say, “this is how many bacterial species are in the human microbiome…”, recognize that this is akin to the estimates of the galaxies in the universe before we launched the first space-based telescopes that would reveal millions of previously unseen galaxies filling the darkest pixel of the night sky. I fully expect that we will, in the decades to come, discover many tens of thousands of bacterial species, along with hundreds of thousands, if not millions of species of fungi, viruses, and parasites that help maintain health in the optimal human system.

We should all stand in humility of how little we know at this stage of microbiome science, and be in fear of the extinction of bacterial, fungal, parasite, and viral species never recognized as we continue to pour antibiotics, herbicides, and pesticides into our animals, humans, soils, rivers, and oceans. The journey into the microbiome is one of the most prescient missions of our generation; through it we will discover a whole new universe. Buckle up and enjoy the ride with all of us at Biomic Sciences as we join so many other scientists around the world to dare to go where no man or woman has gone before…

Seventy percent (70%) of our immune system is found in our gut. We need tens of thousands different strains of good gut bacteria to support a healthy immune system. Clinical experience, in addition to cell culture studies, support the theory that RESTORE’s proprietary formula creates the optimal environment in the gut to create a tight junction barrier and maintain our health and wellness. RESTORE is a daily liquid supplement designed to support the protection of the entire gastrointestinal (GI) tract against agricultural herbicides, antibiotics, GMOs, gluten and food-borne toxins by helping to create an environment where between 20,000-30,000 different strains of good gut bacteria thrive. Most probiotics on the market contain fewer than 24 different strains of good gut bacteria.

Restore creates a firewall from environmental toxins

RESTORE takes a holistic approach and helps strengthen our gut barrier and maintain our immune system to create a firewall from everyday exposure to environmental factors.

Over the last sixty years there has been a steady loss of biodiversity in our gut membrane bacterial ecosystem. Factory farming, processed foods, and widespread antibiotic use have all played major roles in this decline. This loss of biodiversity has left the gut membrane wall vulnerable. The most potent of the common triggers for the zonulin damage to the gut wall in our diet is glyphosate – the most common ingredient in weed killers. Gluten is the most potent of naturally-occurring triggers for zonulin production in our modern diet.

Zonulin production

As zonulin is produced in the gut it opens the tight junctions, then circulates systemically and can open the blood/brain barrier, kidney tubule systems, and blood vessel walls.

Restore is the first dietary supplement that delivers a balanced family of these bacterial metabolites to promote a healthy firewall of tight junctions in the gut wall and blood/brain barrier. Restore provides the communication network to support the return of biodiversity to the gut ecosystem that supports normal immune function. Restore is the first supplement on the market that functions as an answer to glyphosate and gluten toxicity at the tight junction. Restore rapidly increases production of the enzymes that break down zonulin.

A diet high in heavily-processed foods filled with chemicals, GMOs, gluten, and environmental toxins such as herbicides and animal antibiotics may impact the health of the immune system. Even when a person adheres to a much healthier, plant-based and organic diet, it is virtually impossible to avoid exposure to environmental factors, for example when dining out and traveling.

Exposure to Toxins

zonulin damages tight junctions We all want to lead a full and healthy life.  Why worry when traveling or dining out?  RESTORE can help protect your immune system from environmental toxins.

RESTORE nurtures the body’s protective membranes in the gut and in the blood/brain barrier, enabling these membranes to keep us healthy. A diet loaded with highly-processed foods may cause the tight junctions of the intestinal wall to open from the gut into the bloodstream.

Through state-of-the art scientific studies conducted at prestigious universities and compelling anecdotal evidence from people who use RESTORE, data suggest that by keeping the gut healthy and functioning optimally, one can block gut sensitivity to gluten and other chemicals and address GI health. In short, RESTORE nurtures the body’s protective membranes in the gut and in the blood/brain barrier, enabling them to work, to keep the body healthy.

RESTORE is unlike any supplement on the market.

RESTORE was developed by scientists trained at some of the most prestigious universities in the country, such as the University of Virginia, Duke University, and the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. RESTORE is made in the USA.

Terrahydrite™ (Stabilized Lignite Extract) for Gut Health

RESTORE ingredients for gut health are comprised of purified water, a soil-based mineral supplement, Terrahydrite(TM) (Stabilized Lignite Extract), trace soil amino acids and minerals. (Both tap water and bottled water products contain impurities. Deionized reverse osmosis water,, which is used in the manufacture of Restore, contains virtually no impurities.)

State-of-the-Art Manufacturing Processes

Scientists combine these ingredients using proprietary, multi-step state-of-the-art manufacturing processes. Based on laboratory testing RESTORE is highly effective in protecting and strengthening intestinal tissue, and further toxicity testing indicates it is very safe for human consumption.

It is important to note that other supplements on the market have many of the same raw materials as RESTORE, but some may cause significant kidney toxicity, increasing kidney cell death (the most sensitive cell we can test) by more than 250% within hours of exposure. We have conclusive laboratory evidence that kidney cells bathed in 100% concentrations of RESTORE, reveal no toxicity, but actually show increased cell longevity.

Through lab testing, we know that RESTORE stays safe on kidney tubule cells and efficacious in strengthening intestinal tissue tight junctions beyond six years – as long as RESTORE has been manufactured to date, so an expiration date is inaccurate. We now use a “Best By” date, six years from manufacture. Prior to that we used a “Manufactured On” date (MFG ON). If you have one of those bottles, your RESTORE will be good for at least six years past that date.

Yes. RESTORE is regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration under the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994, Public Law 103-417.

Under federal law regulations, the manufacturer must be able to prove its products are safe and its labeling and advertising must be truthful and not misleading.

Zachary Bush, MD, CEO and co-founder says, “Our team is extremely excited about the potential for RESTORE. It is important for people to know that RESTORE produces a significant outcome.”

In addition, we performed the “gold standard” toxicology study on Restore and showed that it is non-toxic on kidney cells even at high doses. Restore has been shown both in the laboratory and clinically to help support the functioning of the gut barrier.

Our Disclaimer: In compliance with the FDA/FTC regulations of the supplement industry, Restore has not been evaluated or approved to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. We are prohibited from speaking directly about specific disease conditions. Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries from our clients, it is not possible for our doctors to respond to individual health inquiries. We recommend that you refer to your healthcare provider to discuss your specific health concerns and the role of Restore in your health.

Standard Usage: 1 teaspoon, three times a day, before or with meals for those over age two. 1/4 teaspoon, three times a day, for those under age two.

Use can increase to 1 Tablespoon, three times daily, to support health goals, although 3 teaspoons per day is adequate for most individuals.

At 3 teaspoons per day, an 8oz bottle is a two-week supply, a 16oz bottle a one-month supply, and a 32oz bottle the best value as a two-month supply.

Due to RESTORE’s protective effects against gluten and especially glyphosate, taking RESTORE before meals, optimally 30 minutes prior, is preferred for maximum efficacy. However, you can take RESTORE immediately before, with, or after a meal, or even on an empty stomach, and still receive benefit.

RESTORE is vegan, naturally gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, latex-free, sulfite-free, preservative-free, non-GMO, and certified glyphosate residue free. It is produced in a facility free of allergens, including peanuts and tree nuts.

If you consider yourself “sensitive”: Results vary with initial RESTORE usage, with many customers reporting rapid and profound early results of the supplement. These clinical results are not the direct effects of the supplement, but instead reflect the innate healing process that occurs in the body as the “firewall system” is optimally up and running. For many, this is an improvement in mental clarity and sensory processing in as little as hours or days of first use.

There is a subset of individuals, however, that can experience symptoms of tiredness, headache, bloating/increased gas, or bowel changes including constipation and loose stools. In these situations, it is helpful to take a very slow and gentle approach to gut-brain health.

3-5 drops of RESTORE in food or drink daily, or twice daily, is a good starting point for sensitive individuals. During this slow introduction, they are able to recover an adequate reservoir of the antioxidant, glutathione. This low dose can be very effective in supporting initial health outcomes in most gut environs. After a few weeks the usage can be increased slowly, as tolerated. The goal is to get to 1 teaspoon, three times a day, before or with meals for those over age 2, and 1/4 teaspoon, three times a day, for those under 2 years. Many healthy family members simply start at the standard usage guides.

Gut health is making big news headlines these days, with multiple studies conducted at prestigious universities underscoring the fundamental link between gut health and overall health. All these studies share a common premise: To be well, one must have a healthy gut. Restore is the first dietary supplement that delivers a balanced family of these bacterial metabolites that promote a healthy firewall of tight junctions in the gut wall and blood/brain barrier.

Tight Junctions

Gatekeeper in the Gut

To use an everyday description, a rock-solid football defensive line protects the opposing team from scoring any points because it has “tight junctions.” In our immune system, these same kind of tight junctions keep things out of the blood stream that should not be there and at the same time allow nutrients to enter the bloodstream.

Study on how Restore supports gut health.

There is a growing body of well-developed science that demonstrates that the tight junction barrier in the gut can be degraded with exposure to gluten and glyphosate (the main chemical in commercial herbicide).

Tight junctions are protected by the carbon and mineral metabolites of bacterial digestion. When the intestinal bacteria are balanced and thriving in extreme diversity of 20,000 or more species, this matrix of metabolites produces a strong enzyme defense system that protects the tight junctions from the toxin zonulin, which is made at the intestinal lining.

Your gut contains tight junction barriers, which act as an intelligent gate in the gut wall, maintaining a healthy gut.

Protection from glyphosate with RestoreProtection from Glyphosate

Maintain Gut Health

Numerous scientific studies show that glyphosate, the active ingredient in commercial herbicides, is implicated in a wide variety of systemic disorders. Glyphosate works synergistically with other factors, such as insufficient sun exposure, dietary deficiencies in critical nutrients such as sulfur and zinc, and synergistic exposure to other xenobiotics whose detoxification is impaired.

Zach Bush MD
Founder and CEO of Biomic Sciences, LLC, producer of the RESTORE supplement product line.

Protection from glyphosate is needed since it is heavily used for commercial, agricultural and residential purposes. Research by Stephanie Seneff  (MIT) links glyphosate’s suppression of proper gut bacteria functioning to many modern diseases.

In fact, research by Biomic Sciences shows that glyphosate is ten times more potent than gluten in its ability to degrade tight junctions in the gut membrane wall. Thankfully, this news comes at a time when consumers have an option for protection from glyphosate and help in maintenance of their gut health. Biomic Sciences has recently proven that the supplement RESTORE can increase and strengthen tight junctions and can protect against ongoing everyday exposure to herbicides.

probiotic productsOptimally, a healthy digestive tract contains 20,000 – 30,000 different strains of good gut bacteria.

Probiotic Products

Simply taking a probiotic to continuously address a complex health challenge can actually lead to a lack of bacteria diversity in the gut. This low microbial diversity can impact your health. How is RESTORE different from probiotic products?  RESTORE is unique in that it enhances the diversity of the gut bacteria by making the gut environment more friendly to the different strains of good gut bacteria or flora, and a typical probiotic is only comprised of between 3 to 30 different bacterial species.

Restore is the first dietary supplement that delivers a balanced family of bacterial metabolites to promote a healthy firewall of tight junctions in the gut wall and blood/brain barrier. Restore provides the communication network to support the return of biodiversity to the gut ecosystem that supports normal immune function.

Dr. Eisen’s TED talk brings home the importance of the gut bacteria or microbiome. It’s a worthy watch.

As with any dietary supplement, if you are pregnant or nursing, consult a health care professional before using RESTORE. However, we are aware of many pregnant and lactating women who use RESTORE. The most common side effect of starting on RESTORE can be bloating and/or constipation so if these symptoms develop, you can reduce your usage until they resolve.

You can also start with a few drops under the tongue, to determine your tolerance, and then build up to the recommended daily usage of 1 teaspoon, three times daily, preferably about 30 minutes before meals, as your body adjusts. Increasing your water intake will also help remedy constipation.

None of the ingredients in RESTORE cause constipation. Constipation can occur because as the tight junctions are strengthened, water absorption is increased. If you experience constipation after starting RESTORE, we would recommend you increase hydration and, if this alone doesn’t help, many have found magnesium supplementation to be helpful.

Constipation is a commonly-reported side effect when beginning use of RESTORE, but it’s actually a sign of progress. Prior to strengthening the tight junctions in the gastrointestinal tract with RESTORE, one may be lacking the intelligence in that membrane necessary to appropriately absorb water and nutrients. When those communication networks are reestablished and the cells begin to properly absorb water, some constipation may result. You can treat this quite simply by increasing your water intake to a minimum of one ounce per kilogram of body weight, or your weight in pounds divided in half.

Furthermore, many people need additional magnesium than that available through diet alone. Adding in an oral magnesium supplement may help alleviate constipation.

You can also decrease your daily usage of RESTORE in half until your stools return to normal with the above adjustments in hydration and magnesium intake for a couple of weeks, then increase back to recommended usage of RESTORE.

Results vary with initial RESTORE usage, with many customers reporting rapid and profound early results of the supplement. These clinical results are not the direct effects of the supplement, but instead reflect the innate healing process that occurs in a body as the firewall system is optimally up and running.

For many, this is an improvement in mental clarity and sensory processing in as little as hours or days of first use. There is a subset of individuals, however, that can experience symptoms of tiredness, headache, bloating/increased gas, mild nausea, or bowel changes including constipation. If you are experiencing any of these reactions, please see our “sensitive usage” guidelines above under “How do I take RESTORE?” tab.

If you have any reaction to RESTORE, or if you have any chronic or reoccurring symptoms or illness, consult a healthcare professional before using this product.
